Trash Valet in Sarasota: How the Weekly Service Runs

Trash day in Sarasota looks simple until it isn't. A late meeting, a trip out of town or a sore back, and the bins sit in the garage for another week. Or they sit at the curb two days too long. A trash valet in Sarasota takes that weekly chore off your list. We roll your carts to the curb before collection and bring them back afterwards, every week.
This guide explains how a real valet week runs: who sets your collection day, what happens on each visit, how you can confirm the bins moved, and what the plans cost. That way you can decide whether the service fits your home.
Who Collects Your Trash in Sarasota and Why Your Day Is Not a Choice
In Sarasota, the company that empties your carts depends on where your home sits. It isn't the same for every address with a Sarasota mailing label.
- City of Sarasota: homes inside city limits are collected by the City of Sarasota.
- Waste Pro: serves parts of north Sarasota County.
- FCC Environmental: serves parts of south Sarasota County.
Your collection day is set by that hauler. You didn't pick it, and we don't pick it either. It can change from one street to the next, so your neighbor around the corner may roll out on a different day than you do.
If you're not sure of your City of Sarasota trash pickup day, or your day under Waste Pro or FCC Environmental, check with your hauler, the city or the county. Your HOA may also have its own rules about when bins can go out and come back. We schedule your valet visits around your hauler's day, so the timing follows the real collection, not a guess.
What a Trash Valet Does and What It Does Not Do
A trash can valet service is simple, but it helps to be clear about the edges.
What we do:
- ✓ Roll your existing carts to the curb the evening before collection.
- ✓ Bring the carts back to their spot the morning after.
- ✓ Record each completed stop with a photo, the time and GPS.
- ✓ Text and email you when a stop is done.
What we don't do:
- ✗ We don't collect trash. Your hauler still empties the carts.
- ✗ We don't pick up bagged trash from your door or take garbage out of the house.
- ✗ We don't replace your hauler's carts. We move the ones you already have.
In short, a bin valet service handles the trip between your storage spot and the curb. You keep bagging trash and putting it in the carts as usual.

The Two-Visit Week: Evening Take-Out and Morning Return
Every property on a valet plan gets two visits per collection week. Here's how it runs.
- Evening take-out. The evening before your collection day, a driver rolls your carts from their usual spot to the curb.
- Collection. Your hauler empties the carts on its normal schedule.
- Morning return. The morning after collection, a driver brings the carts back to where they live.
- Proof and notice. Each completed stop is logged with a photo, the time and GPS, and you get a text and email.
All times are Eastern. A date on a route or visit means that calendar day here in Florida, which matters if you're checking in from out of state.
Not sure why getting bins back promptly matters? Our post on when to return bins after pickup covers it in more detail.
The Empty Bin Rule
This one surprises people, so we explain it up front.
If the driver arrives for the evening take-out and your carts are already empty, there's nothing to take to the curb. So the next morning's return is cancelled automatically. There's nothing at the curb to bring back.
This is the most common reason someone thinks a visit was missed. It wasn't. Your service history shows the take-out stop, with the driver's note that the bins were empty. If you're away and the house isn't producing trash, this is normal.
Photo, Time and GPS Records: How You Know the Bins Moved
A trash can to curb service is only useful if you can trust it happened. That's why every completed stop is recorded with:
- A photo of the bins in place.
- The time the stop was completed.
- GPS showing the driver was at your address.
So if you ever ask, “Did you actually come out?” we can answer with evidence, not just a promise.
First Visit: Three Reference Photos
On the first visit to your home, the driver takes three reference photos: the house, the bins and the curb. Later drivers use these to know which carts are yours and exactly where they go back. That keeps the service consistent even if a different driver covers your street.
When the Photo Is Late
Sometimes a stop is completed but the photo doesn't show up right away. That usually means the driver's phone couldn't upload it at that moment. The app keeps retrying and attaches the photo once it goes through, and our office is alerted the same day.
“We don't have the photo yet” is not the same as “we didn't come out.” The service history records the completion separately from the photo, so you can still see the stop was done.
Who Gets Notified
Completing a stop automatically texts and emails the customer. If your account has several properties and contacts, only the contacts attached to that address are told. A property manager's owner contact at one home won't get alerts for another.

Rolling Bins Yourself vs a Trash Valet: Sarasota Comparison Table
Here's a side-by-side look at the weekly routine with and without a valet.
| Concern | Rolling Bins Yourself | Using a Trash Valet |
|---|---|---|
| Remembering collection day | Up to you, every week | Scheduled around your hauler's day |
| Bins out the night before | Only if you're home and remember | Evening take-out visit |
| Bins back after collection | Only if you're home and remember | Morning return visit |
| Traveling or seasonal absence | Need a neighbor or friend | Service continues, or pause for the season |
| Physical effort | Pushing heavy carts down the driveway | A driver handles it |
| Proof it happened | Your own memory | Photo, time and GPS on every stop |
| Bins left at the curb too long | Possible HOA or county issues | Returned the morning after collection |
Rules on how long bins can stay at the curb vary. Check with your county, city or HOA for the specifics where you live.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find my City of Sarasota trash pickup day?
Your collection day is set by your hauler, which depends on your address. Homes inside city limits are served by the City of Sarasota, while other Sarasota addresses may be served by Waste Pro or FCC Environmental. Check with your hauler, city or county for your exact day. We schedule valet visits around it.
Does a trash valet collect my garbage?
No. Your hauler still collects and empties the carts. A trash valet only moves your existing carts to the curb the evening before collection and back the morning after. We don't pick up bagged trash from your door.
How much does a trash can valet service in Sarasota cost?
Bin Valet Only is $45/mo billed $135 every 3 months, or $50/mo month-to-month. The Valet + Clean Bundle is $60/mo billed $180 every 3 months, or $65/mo month-to-month. Up to 2 bins are included, and extra bins are +$5/mo each. A One-Time Visit is $15 for up to 2 bins.
Why didn't my bins get brought back after pickup?
The most common reason is the empty bin rule. If your carts were already empty at the evening take-out, there was nothing to roll out, so the next morning's return is cancelled automatically. Your service history shows the take-out stop with the driver's note.
How do I know the driver actually came?
Every completed stop is recorded with a photo, the time and GPS, and you get a text and email. If a photo is delayed, the app keeps retrying the upload. The completion is still recorded separately in your service history.
Can I pause my trash valet service while I'm away for the season?
Yes. Snowbirds and seasonal owners can pause instead of cancel. Billing pauses too, and picks back up when you return.
